What the company is doing

First Horizon Bank is a financial services firm located in Memphis in Tennessee, formerly First Tennessee Bank. First Horizon offers financial services at and across Tennessee across more than 180 locations.

The history of the brand

The story of the bank started in 1864 when Frank S. Davis, a businessman from Memphis, came to open the first national bank in Memphis. Earlier, Congress established a federal regime that enabled banks in confederate states to charter in union-controlled cities. Memphis was such a place, and Davis saw a genuine need to fund reconstruction and new commercial growth in banking and lending. Davis' foresight led him to create the First Memphis National Bank, which is now known as the First Horizon Bank.

Business directions

First Horizon served its clients during the civil war, two world wars, yellow fever epidemics, financial panic, the Great Depression, and the Great Recession. Its clients and enterprises have been adversely impacted, taken the challenge, and modified. They are proud of their history and concentrated on future construction.

The bank was known as an advanced technology user. It was one of the first banks in the nation to provide mobile deposits, taking its customers into the world of innovation such as branch banking, drive-through banking, ATMs, remote deposit collection, and a payroll card. Aboard with its 5,500 staff, First Horizon is one of the banks most trusted and rewarded by its clients in the bank industry. It offers high-quality finance, insurance, and fixed-income savings, mortgage, credit, and financial planning.

Together they committed in 2018 to spend almost $4 bn to expand access to financial services in under-served and low to middle-income communities in the United States' southeast region. The investment aims to improve the growth of the community, the economy, and small businesses.

The bank's CSR and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) activities are driven and guided by First Horizon's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee.
