It has been more than 60 years since a small group of leaders gathered and voted to set up a home-owned bank in Corvallis in April 1957. According to an early newspaper article, the organizers said they wanted to fill a need for a friendly banking service dedicated to all of the community and the building of a thriving local economy,"

Six months later, on 5 October 1957, in one building on the north-eastern corner of Second and Madison streets, the Citizens Bank of Corvallis opened for service. Seven employees started operations of the Bank.
